My End of January Favourites

January is such a meh month. Lets face it, Christmas and New Year are over, and being at University means that I have my exams all month (grim). In order to cheer myself up (and distract myself from revision) I’ve been trying new products and taking some real time to take care of myself.  My top five products for January are:

 Origins Cleanser
I was given this cleanser as a sample, but look how cute it is!! It's perfect travel size – and is lasting me so long. I use this cleanser in the morning, as it is really light, so I don’t know how it would do taking off my makeup at night. The scent is so fresh and lovely, but is quite pungent, so be aware of that before you buy it!

Origins Drink up Intensive Face Mask
This is so lovely. The smell, the feel, the results –ahhhhhh I love it. Whilst writing this I got too excited about it so went and whacked it on. This mask is meant to be left on overnight, so I apply this at the end of a pamper evening and let it dry before I sleep. To start with, it smells amazing – so fruity you could almost eat it. When you apply the mask, it feels so hydrating – and you can definitely see the brightening results in the morning!

 Coastal Scents Revealed Palette
I bought this palette right before I came back to uni and it has been used daily ever since. It has so many colours, and I still have colours yet to try. I hate to say I have neglected all other eye shadows since this came along – actually I don’t hate to say it at all, I love this palette!

Christmas Slippers
My boyfriend’s lovely parents treated me to a pair of these after I had major slipper envy when we went skiing last year. They are lined with sheep wool, and coloured pink – the best. I have lived in these during revision - my favourite footwear.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation
My step-sister told me about this foundation on Christmas Day, whilst sorting my eyebrows which were in a dreadful state. Her skin looked so perfect and as I love foundations anyway I decided that I needed it. The colour I bought is unfortunately a little (lot) dark for me – I was being rather ambitious when buying it – but as for a staying/mattifying foundation I don’t think I’ve found one that is better. The texture is very thick – I describe it as my face paint – but for those full coverage days it is pretty darn good.

Lush Ultrabland Cleanser Review

In an earlier post I reviewed a facemask I bought a few weeks ago called Cosmetic Warrior (you can find this post here).  During this trip to lush, I also picked up a couple of samples of different products that would help my skin – and I do love a good sample! One of this was the cleanser – Ultrabland.

After trying this sample for a couple of days, I knew I had to go back and get a full pot. It was at the higher end of my completely skint price range coming in at £11.50 for 100g – but I figured it was a nice post Christmas mini splurge.

Ultrabland contains ingredients such as Honey, which is meant to moisturise the skin as well as act as an antiseptic. It also contains Rose Water, which is meant to calm, and sooth the skin.

First appearances – it looks pretty thick and creamy in the pot - which I do quite like in a cleanser. After applying a small amount to my hands and then face I admit it made my face feel a bit claggy. But after wiping off with a hot flannel my skin felt so smooth and just really clean! It definitely calmed my skin (which was mid breakout), and my skin felt so moisturised.

Personally, based on the thickness and the way it left my skin afterwards – I think this is more a cleanser for night time – or when you feel like your skin needs a really good clean. I think I just prefer something that will leave my skin feeling a little brighter in the morning – a little less heavy duty.
